Join our Professional Services team for a deep dive into TreePlotter's Work Order Management module, this is the first of a three-part training series!
In part one we will be taking a closer look at Work Orders. You can expect to learn:
different ways to add and easily update Work Orders
how to track cost information
how running metrics will keep operations running smoothly
how to use Work Orders to help you advocate for your program needs
This event will be recorded and made available on our support site in the days following the webinar. We will send out the recording directly to all registrants.
The American white oak, a cornerstone of both ecological balance and industries like bourbon production, is facing significant decline. The USDA Forest Service is leading efforts to reverse this trend through the White Oak Initiative, focusing on sustainable management and conservation practices. Learn how this crucial work not only supports biodiversity but also industries dependent on these majestic trees.
Center for Regenerative Solutions Grant Opportunity
The Center for Regenerative Solutions is supporting urban forestry work for three years in a select number of communities nationwide. These grants will fund the implementation of a Community Forestry Corps, an initiative to ensure communities are able to sustain tree canopy in climate-vulnerable communities by empowering youth to engage in community-based tree care and neighborhood-level urban heat data collection.
Dogs in Lewes are playing a unique role in rewilding efforts, wearing backpacks filled with seeds to scatter wildflowers as they roam. This clever initiative leverages their natural exploratory behavior to enhance biodiversity in urban nature reserves. Discover more about how these furry friends are making a difference.
On July 25th the U.S. EPA announced $325 million in funding for 21 applications to help disadvantaged communities tackle environmental and climate justice challenges. Several of the selected applications include urban forestry projects. This is just the first tranche of nearly $2 billion Community Change Grants. Applications will accepted through November 21, 2024.
Is Your Community Trying to Establish an Urban Forestry Program?
Hillsboro is advancing its urban forestry with the development of a 2035 Community Plan and the establishment of a new Urban Forester position. PlanIT Geo recently completed a Phase 1 Urban Forest Management Plan (UFMP), which included citywide canopy assessments and a strategic audit identifying management needs. The findings highlighted a significant need for more city staffing to manage urban forest challenges effectively. The city is now actively recruiting for the Urban Forester role to address these needs. For more details about the plan and ongoing efforts, you can read the full article.
ON DEMAND WEBINAR: Explore a new data offering in TreePlotter, the Land Cover and Tree Equity (LCTE) Data Pack. Communities, especially IRA grant winners and future applicants, must carefully plan and track how their projects benefit disadvantaged areas. We created the LCTE Data Pack, an add-on to TreePlotter to support this process.
PlanIT Geo’s Ian Truslove and Ian Hanou demonstratecomponents of the LCTE Data Pack, including layers for disadvantaged communities and redlining areas encoded with land cover data. See how the LCTE Data Pack can amplify and simplify equitable urban forest planning in your community.
ON DEMAND WEBINAR: Not all tree inventories are created equal. This webinar takes a deep dive into public and private tree inventories and the variety of attributes and services they can include.
Rocky Yosek, PlanIT Geo Field Services Operations Manager, covered topics you typically do not consider when scoping tree inventory services. Alternative services include optimal inventory timing, planting site analysis, Level 2 Risk Assessments, and more.
Roughly 17% of municipal waste turns out to be wood in all its forms – storm-damaged or infested trees, construction debris, old furniture. The Urban Wood Use Action Guide shows communities how to kickstart a program to divert some of that "waste" to higher uses while creating new jobs in the process.
Read urban forest stories spanning 3 decades in The Resilient Canopy, a great piece in the latest issue of City Trees. Brett O'Brien shares his experience managing urban trees through the heat, humidity, and growing population of Columbia, Missouri.
See what's being done to cool off some of Richmond's hottest neighborhoods. Researchers estimate 100 linear miles of sidewalk in Richmond can be put on a sidewalk "diet," which would shorten the width of the sidewalk to create space for grass and trees, while also keeping the sidewalk ADA compliant.
Empowering Forest Landowners Against Climate Change
The USDA Forest Service, through the Northern Institute of Applied Climate Science, provides vital tools and strategies for forest landowners to enhance resilience against climate change. From managing water supply and soil erosion to addressing invasive species, these resources support proactive land management. Discover how you can create a climate-informed management plan to safeguard your forests for the future.
